Adobe completely screwed over their professional users. As a long time user of the Creative Suite (since CS2), I have always updated my software as updates were available. Owning my own design studio, there was one year where i went from CS3-4-5. As a very small business, this was an expensive upgrade but still affordable. Each upgrade averaged $350-400. Because I spent the money back when CS2 was available (and i am sure it was at least $1500) I made the commitment to Adobe and have since then. Unlike many others out there who pirate software. Now Adobe is telling me I have to spend $50/month, to the tune of $600 a year to use their products? Screw that. As long as my clients are still using CS6, I will not fall into the CC scheme. I feel that Adobe should have grandfathered in long time users at an affordable rate that is equivalent to what our upgrades used to cost us. Adobe, SHAME ON YOU. Like many others I'm a long time Adobe user. I kept up with current versions with the volume licensing program. I mainly use Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Photoshop, Acrobat and on rare occasions Illustrator. I don't really care about the plethora of other Adobe tools, but with Creative Cloud (CC) I need to get the "Everything" package with lots of stuff I don't want or want to pay for. No options are available to pick 3 apps or 5 apps for less money - if you want 3 or more products with this pricing model you may as well just get the "everything" option. Adobe says CC means you get the latest versions - sounds good but in Dreamweaver some extensions break in when new versions some out. Tough. You just get the latest CC version and too bad. While I'm on Dreamweaver, Adobe just dropped the server side actions support - that's support for database queries and server side actions that were widely used. Oops. Does that cause a problem? A free extension from DMXZone was eventually released to replace those essential features, but that's how Adobe thinks about the client. As for the latest versions, pre-CC I was in the volume licensing support plan. I paid about half the price of the CS web premium and for 2 years I got new versions sent to me as they were released. This was excellent and with perpetual licenses (vs losing the application in 30 days or less if you aren't current) I could have multiple versions installed to support clients stuck with older tech in their web sites. CC purchased annually will cost me $600/year every year for every seat. That assumes they don't decide choose to increase the price again and again.Read more › ![]() Adobe Creative Cloud World's Leading Creative Desktop Apps.
